SCFS makes Strawberry Buckets with the Snohomish Boys & Girls Club

The SCFS is fortunate to be able to meet at the Snohomish Boys & Girls Club every second Thursday of the month. The space has suited our growing group well and we appreciate what the B&G club is doing for the community as well. The two groups teamed up recently to give kids a hands-on experience to growing, and hopefully eating, fruit. A crew of SCFS volunteers gathered on Friday, April 11th and helped about 60 students plant buckets full of strawberry plants that they could either take home or keep at the club. Nine plants per 5 gallon bucket should give the students a chance to learn how to care for plants and hopefully enjoy some sweet rewards along the way. Overall, it was a very successful event as the kids eagerly took part in the activity. Thanks to all those who donated buckets, compost, gravel, time and energy to this event!
