Summer time sure brings out the bugs, but many of those bugs are your best friends. They are busy day and night helping turn flowers into fruit! Join us this Thursday, June 11, to hear Snohomish County Extension Pest Specialist, Dave Pehling, as he teaches us about Native Pollinators (and little bit about honey bees for good measure even if they aren’t natives!). The meeting starts at 7 pm at the Boys and Girls Club of Snohomish, 402 2nd St, Snohomish, WA 98290. A brief business meeting will precede the presentation.
Dave Pehling has been studying & teaching about insects for WSU Extension in Snohomish County since 1978. Dave is trained as a zoologist, but has varied interests including: insect pest management, arthropod parasites (especially mosquitoes), & pollinators. In addition to entomological work, Dave teaches vertebrate pest management for the WSU Master Gardener and Livestock Advisor programs in several western Washington Counties and is webmaster of the WSU Extension Snohomish County website and “WSU Gardening in Western Washington”.
Snohomish County Fruit Society (SCFS) is a chapter of Western Cascade Fruit Society (WCFS) http://www.wcfs.org. The meeting is open to the public and everyone is invited. For further information, call (425) 398-5544.
